Dog allergies?

My 50 pound border collie mix is having serious skin allergies this summer. I've been trying to bath her twice weekly with medicated shampoo that contains tea tree with no luck. Is there anything else I can try before having to do cortizone shots through the vet.

Dog allergies?
You can try to change its food. Many times they have food allergies. I like Natural Balance Venison %26amp; Brown Rice. Its expensive, but it has no chicken or chicken by-products. Chicken is a very common food allergy. Benadryl will sometimes help with the itching and you could add dermcaps or 3v caps to her meals to add some omega-3 to her diet. Talk with your vet about allergy testing. Relief Shampoo will also help, but you have to get it from a doctor. Im not sure about tea tree shampoo. Steiords are very hard on the body stay away from them if you can. It can have 1mg/pound of body weight twice daily of benadryl.

If she is just really itchy she may get a secondary skin infection. Ususally if this happens the only thing you can do is put them on oral steiords and anitbotics.
Reply:not that i know of she is probably highly allergic to the pollen thats in the air right now!
Reply:try some vinegar in his bath, i did this on a 2 week old puppy advised by my breeder, it helps soothe the itch, try it and see how it goes, and let me no the results. make sure you use reasonable amount of vinegar, good luck
