What do I DO FOR A DOG WITH SEVERE ALLERGIES AND SCALING SKIN FROM SCRATCHING!?
see a vet. they will prescribe medications necessary for the allergies and ointments for the skin
Reply:give it some benidril for allergies it should help!!!
Reply:Take it to a vet. They gan give it an anti-histimine injection to stop the itching. My cat has severe allergies, too.
Reply:take it to a vet
Reply:depending on the dog age. i would coinsider euthanasia. however i would first consult with a vet. they will give you the best option.
Reply:SOUNDS LIKE MAINGE(sp?) TRY BENEDRYL AND THEN GET THE POOR THING TO THE VET HE MAY JUST NEED A CHORTISONE SHOT OR SOMETHING.
Reply:I use Melalucca products on my dog's skin. He gets mad hotspots. Melalucca oil is the active ingredient in tea tree oil.
Reply:go to a vet....poor dog. hopefully it's a simple remedy to give your pooch some relief. I think not, though.
Reply:Skin allergies is harsh. Get your dog on Hill's z/d Ultra formula, ask your vet of course. It's an awsome food for allergies. Other than that your doc should give allergies, or medications. There are many diff steps to take in a skin allergy situation.
Reply:is it diet related???

most low quality foods (all sold in grocery or Wal Mart) have alot of cheap fillers which often cause allergies - avoid CORN WHEAT SOY BEEF and PORK

bathe in oatmeal dog shampoo and change diet to LAMB AND RICE premium formula from a pet suppy store - read the ingredient list to be sure there are no problem causers in the food
Reply:Get rid of the darn mutt!!
Reply:Allergies are common in dogs and are most prevalent when the weather is hot and humid or your dog food or treats contain wheat. Opt for a low residue food such as California Natural and wheat free treats.

My dog also has skin allergies, and I bathe him in OxyMed shampoo about once every two weeks and it stops the itching.

If you tried all these and he still is having problems you can start him on Claritin, and give him one tablet everyday ((you can buy it at any pharmacy...it's made for humans but is SAFE FOR DOGS)) or you can try benadryll but that makes the dog sleepy and withdrawn. contact your vet before starting benadryll
Reply:are you sure he has allergies,if a vet told you this he should be able to give him something to ease his itching,if you have not seen a vet then do so right away good luck Hope he will be ok
Reply:you need to take him to the vet for a cortazone shot and some allergy pills.
Reply:I have a dog that has allergies too. There's alot of things you can do. Change the dogs food to a better brand, use a children's allergy relief on it for a few days until the food starts to work. And keep fleas off the dog. For the spots on the pet body, use A%26amp;D omit on it.
