My dog has allergies and very dry skin need to know if there is a shampoo out there over the counter i can us?

well, so long as your dog doesn't have allergies to the shampoo, pantene pro-v shampoo is what we use on our dog cuz she has very dry skin. It works and keeps her coat nice. Its like 4 dollars or something like that and it is otc. Hope this helps...never hurts to try.

I've used over-the-counter baby shampoo with aloe and it has helped my Italian Greyhound. Her condition has improved tremendously. For the allergies I give her 1/2 pediatric dose of liquid benadryl - over the counter anti-histamine syrup. It would depend on the type of allergy and how big the dog, but a combination of the two of these should work out for you; and it's a bit cheaper than the vet-solutions, which is essentially the same.
Reply:HEAD AND SHOULDERS!!!! I am dead serious. My 14 year old dog had the worst skin I'd ever seen! She lost so much hair and it was scabby and bloody and obviously horribly painful and itchy for her. After spending over $300 dollars on vet visits and meds for her I finally tried Head and Shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo. It cleared her skin up after about a month and it made her hair so shiny I was jealous. Haha-lol. Seriously, try it!!
Reply:give the dog a teaspoon of canola oil on his food 3x a week and 1 cooked egg 2x a week this will also help his skin
Reply:Use a gentle shampoo that contains aloe vera

Try vitamin E or aloe vera cream, maybe adding a few drops of lavender or chamomile essential oils (especially good if the dog scratches a lot as it will help to relax it)

Try gving small amounts of vitamin E and/or cod liver oil - in food or applied to the skin

Ring the vet or an animal welfare charity as they may know if an inexpensive but effective treatment
