If a mom has skin allergy (for example, eczema) and she breastfeeds her baby on a regular basis, can her baby get the same allergy or other type of skin allergy?
Can a baby get allergies from her mother through breastfeeding?
No, allergies are not like colds. Your baby will likely be susceptible to similar allergens, and things you eat can trigger reactions. But the best you can do is to pay attention to the things you eat that are triggers for babies--soy, wheat, corn, dairy are the biggies. Dairy is a big one--a lot of babies are allergic to the proteins in milk (not lactose), and that can cause eczema.
Reply:nope. her baby is more likely to NOT get eczema (and other allergies) if she continues to breast feed.
look at it like this: your mom has eczema, so her breast milk has made an immunity to it. Neat, isnt it?
Reply:No. Actually this is one of the many benefits of breastfeeding... a lower risk, MUCH lower risk, of allergies (including eczema).
Reply:NO. Breastfeeding can prevent your child from getting all these allergies. Be rest assured !!
