The lady I got him from just wanted to give him away. I thought this was a little odd. He had a slight odor when I picked him up and he had some hair loss on his ears. I brought him home and bathed him. The very next day the odor was back along with his scrathing.
I just got a maltipoo and I think he may have ear mites or skin allergies. Is this common in maltipoos?
The odor is likely be from a bacterial or yeast infection do wn in the ears.
Please take this dog to the vet. At the same time, the vet will check for ear mites.
Best of luck

Reply:Definitely sounds like a problem, the hair loss could be from him scratching at his ears. Could be a yeast over growth, or an infection. Infection usually has brown discharge, yeast is usually yellow and crusty. Mites will also make disharge appear brown or black. Definitely have him seen asap by a Vet, you don't want this problem to get out of control. I've seen some nasty ear problems that left untreated lead to having to surgically reconstruct the ear canal. I doubt you dogs ears are that bad, but better safe than sorry. Good luck!
Reply:my grandma had that prblem when she got a pup that was rescued! we triec everything and the odor just wouldnt go away! and he had skin problems really bad! i would recommend herbal puppy shampoo with oatmeal or something! (even if its not a pup cuz if it has sensitive skin it would be better for it) and ask a vet!
Reply:take him to a good dog groomer ,they'll tell and for a fraction of the price of a vet,and probably know a natural cure
