he has dry skin and his breed is allergie major, I have tried alot so far oatmeal baths the best any others out there?

I have always heard that oatmeal was the best. That's what I give my dogs a bath in.
Reply:My Golden does not have allergies. But I was at the Vet just last week for an ear infection. And he told me that it was important to limit his food intake to only high quality dog food. NOtable scraps.


This may help out with the allergies. The oatmeal baths etc may alleviate symptoms. But the goal is to eliminate the allergy. Food is a good way to start.
Reply:Try a product called Bag Balm it is made for cows, but you can usually get it in Wal mart. It is ver y sticky .....but it usually works!
Reply:Try consulting your vet if the dry skin is that bad. Pup may need to be on meds for allergies, or a special food. Try changing your food bowls to stainless steel, they hold less bacteria than the plastic kind and therefore eliminate alot of allergies. Doctor may recommend a low allergen food, we use Hills Z/D ultra and Z/D low allergen. The doc can alse recommend a shampoo that he or she carries to help.. Just don't bathe too often as over washing leads to dry skin as well.
